The Woodland Trust, Londonthorpe Woods and Bellmount
Training as part of the reconnecting Grantham to its historic landscape project

Background
Supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, ‘Reconnecting Grantham to its Historic Landscape’ is a partnership project between the National Trust (NT) and the Woodland Trust (WT). The project vision is to unite this historic landscape to the east of Belton House, making it more accessible to a wider range of people and providing a range of benefits including improved biodiversity; health and wellbeing; learning and skills.
Bellmount and Londonthorpe Woods once formed part of the 17th Century Brownlow Estate around Belton House, but over time this historic landscape has become fragmented. The NT and WT seek to reconnect the two sites and engage the people of Grantham in their future.
Project
To see an increase in the numbers of people exploring these woods WT aims to help them get the most out of their visit. The Woodland Welcomers represent the Woodland Trust on site, greeting visitors with a warm and friendly hello, helping them out with any queries and requests they may have and promoting positive behaviours through friendly conversations. This is a greeter/welcomer role, not an enforcement role. The project’s management decided the Share-with care Training Package would assist in these recruitment efforts.
